By surgically creating natural contours, the outer ear
may be positioned closer to the head. In children, otoplasties are typically
performed at about five years of age, when there is enough growth to the ear
to perform surgery. Adults often require more extensive surgical reshaping
because of the stiffness of their cartilage. Nonetheless, excellent results
